Tipp sweeps Graham Invitational

A few days following their home meet, the Tippecanoe track squads had quite a performance on Friday at the Graham Invitational in St. Paris. The Red Devils saw both the boys and girls squads earn team championships at the meet as the boys scored 90 points to outdistance Miami East who finished with 73.50. As for the girls, Tipp dominated all 14 teams with 140 points, nearly 80 points ahead of second place Triad.

The Tipp 4x8 girls relay team of Gracie Wead, Ella Combs, Lucia Ranly, and Kali Greth dominated the race with a 10:53.08, over 24 seconds ahead of their closest competitors from Miami East. In the boys race, Tipp placed second with Dimitri Hartman, Zach Foster, Luke Schwieterman, and Everett Muhlenkamp ran 9:06.96.

Aubree Brownlee placed as runner-up in the girls 100 hurdles with a time of 17.53, while the boys did not have a top five finisher in the boys 110 hurdles event.

In the 100 Dash, Julia Burgbacher ran to a fourth-place finish running 13.39, less than .50 seconds off of the champion from Kenton Ridge.

The 4x2 girls relay team of Kaylyn Schultz, Briley Barton, Maddy Lopez, and Hayley Tandy earned the victory with a final time of 1:53.53, edging out Triad who placed second. Tipp finished second in the boys race running 1:35.19, ran by Landon Luginbuhl, Nathan Franklin, Lucas Merry, and Will Strong.

Running the girls 1600 race for Tipp was Leda Anderson, and she finished second overall with a time of 5:48.72, with Kali Greth of Tipp placing fourth. Muhlehkamp was fourth in the boys race, as the Tipp runner finished with a time of 4:56.15.

Tipp placed third in the girls 4x1 race, as Burgbacher, Magato, Kendall David and Megan Strong ran 54.66, while the boys placed fourth, run by Chris Brunswick, Ethan Couch, Christian Couch and Micah Pyles-Dodds, ran 46.73.

Barton put together a championship performance in the girls 400, as the Tipp runner finished 1:04.02. Teammate Isabelle Mahl placed fifth. Luginbuhl finished third in the boys race (54.18).

Chelsea Dettwiller was second in the girls 300 hurdles with 51.37, and her teammate Merry won the boys event with 44.08.

Anderson and Wead were the top two finishers in the girls 800, with Hartman placing fifth in the boys 800.

Magato continued her strong start to the season, coming back with a second-place finish in the girls 200 (27.37) with Burgbacher a close third (28.05).

Morgan Collins had a good run in the girls 3200 run with a time of 12:25.46, finishing a comfortable second place overall. Schwieterman placed second in the boys race with a time of 10:26.48, with fellow Tipp runner Will Hept finishing fifth overall.

Finally, the 4x4 relay teams also performed well to close out the running events. Tipp won the girls race with a dominant performance by 10 seconds over Fairborn with a 4:22.93. The boys finished second with 3:39.02, right on the heels of the champions from Kenton Ridge.

In the field events, Magato was fourth in the high jump with a 5’0” leap, while Barton was fourth in the long jump (14’7.75”).
